Game Field |
Game Rules |
The game board is an 8' x 8' field with two goals and two reload stations (one of each per team). The field was designed so that there are multiple ways of sensing for navigation. Some means of sensing include tape in the creases and connecting the reload towers, IR emitters on top of the goals and reload stations (each emitting at a unique frequency), and inductive wire running between the reload stations, and the entire field is covered in a color gradient for localization.

Each game lasts 2 minutes and 18 seconds, with up to an additional 30 seconds added if the game is tied. Each team's robot starts in its designated red/blue corner, and upon the start of the game, the first robot to successfully reload at its tower gains the first possession. To reload, a robot must read an IR frequency from the reload tower, and emit 2x that frequency back to the tower.
Once one team has possession, they have 17 seconds to score into the goal either along the ground or through the air into the 24" x 8" basket. Once a team scores, possession immediately changes to the opposing team. If a team does not score within the 17 second shot clock, possession transfers to the opponent. Goals only count if they occur while the team is granted possession. At the end of the 2:18, the team with the most goals wins. In the event of a tie, the first team to successfully reload is declared the winner. |
